D&D Gifts for Players and DMs (2026): 25 Ideas by Budget and Recipient
Share
The best D&D gift is something the player uses at every session: dice, a dice bag, a dice tray or a book they don't own yet. If you want one safe answer, a dice bag with pockets ($32โ$47 from us) or a folding dice tray ($21.70) works for almost any player, even if you know nothing about their character. Below are gifts for every kind of player and budget, including the ones I don't make, plus the real Christmas 2026 order dates.
By Mariia, maker at GameFancy. Updated 28 October 2026. I have been sewing dice bags and trays since 2020, with 7,200+ orders and 2,300+ reviews. The gift patterns in this guide come from those orders and reviews, not from guesswork.
Take it with you: the same picks, prices and December order dates are in the GameFancy Dice Bag Gift Guide 2026 (PDF), free to save and share.

When our bags are the right gift, and when they aren't
We make dice bags and trays, so here is the short version of where we fit and where another shop is the better call.
- Choose ours when the gift should match one thing the person loves. We sew dice bags and folding dice trays in prints for Mothman, goblins, possums, cats, dragons, mushrooms, ravens and more, so someone who doesn't play can pick by that one detail. Our bag with 6 pockets is $41 and holds about 300 dice; a folding tray is $21.70.
- Choose ours when you want their own character on it. Our custom printed dice tray is $32 and a custom printed dice bag starts at $39, made from the character art, party crest or map you send. More in personalized D&D gifts.
- Choose ours for a dice collector who needs storage. Our 6-pocket bag has 7 sections, fits 6 to 7 full sets in each pocket and stands open on the table.
- Choose ours for a last-minute gift in the US. Ten of our bestsellers, including the Mothman and Possum dice trays and the plush Mothman and goblin bags, ship from Miami, FL in 1 to 3 business days.
Buy elsewhere for: books and digital content (the official D&D store or D&D Beyond), a painted miniature of their character (Hero Forge), a heavy wooden dice tray (Wyrmwood) or a leather one (Elderwood Academy), and the dice themselves, because we don't make dice.
25 D&D gift ideas for players and DMs
Prices are typical US ranges, not quotes from one store. Ideas 1โ7 are ours; the rest are good gifts we don't make. Which of these players actually use week after week is in RPG accessories players actually use at the table.
- A dice bag with pockets ($32โ$47). Holds about 300 dice, 6โ7 full sets in each pocket, plus a center section. Ours are gabardine outside with a 100% cotton lining and a square bottom that stands open. For anyone with more than two sets.
- A folding fabric dice tray ($21.70). About 5.5 x 5.5 in, snap corners, a rigid bottom covered in gabardine, folds flat into a bag. The easy gift when you know nothing about their game.
- A dice tray printed with their character ($32). Send the character art or party crest; we print it and sew the tray.
- A dice bag printed with their own art (from $39). One of a kind. Order by November 25 for Christmas.
- A velvet dice bag with their name embroidered ($52). 6 pockets, 120+ dice, 3 full sets in each pocket.
- A plush creature dice bag (from $32). Goblin, Mothman, whale or fish, for the player who is a dice goblin themselves.
- A matching dice bag and tray set ($59.70). Two gifts that belong together.
- A resin dice set ($10โ$25). The safe budget pick; most players love a new color.
- A metal or gemstone dice set ($30โ$60). Feels special. Heavy dice need a bag with a soft lining.
- The Player's Handbook ($20โ$50). Only if you know they don't own the current edition. Ask someone at their table first.
- A starter set ($20โ$45). For a new player or a group that is just starting.
- A DM screen ($15โ$50). For the Dungeon Master, not for players.
- Initiative and condition trackers ($10โ$30). Small, and used every session.
- Spell cards ($10โ$35). For spellcasters who are tired of flipping pages.
- A character journal or grid notebook ($10โ$35). For notes, maps and backstory.
- Spell area templates ($10โ$30). Circles, cones and lines for in-person combat.
- A wet-erase battle map ($20โ$40). For groups that play on a table, not online.
- A dice tower ($20โ$60). Fun at home, less useful for someone who plays at game stores.
- A dice vault or box ($20โ$100+). Shows off one special set; not for carrying a whole collection.
- A wooden dice tray ($50โ$150). Heavy and beautiful; it stays at home.
- A miniature of their own character ($25 and up). 3D-printed, painted or unpainted.
- Commissioned character art ($30โ$150+). Very personal; it can also be printed on a bag or tray.
- A D&D hoodie or T-shirt ($20โ$50). Easy if you know their size and their sense of humor.
- A mug with a DM joke ($15โ$25). A classic small gift or stocking stuffer.
- An art book about the game's history ($30โ$50). For fans who love the art as much as the dice.
Buying a dice bag? Check how many dice it really holds (a number, not "large"), whether each pocket fits several sets, whether it stands open, and whether it has a soft lining so resin and metal dice don't scratch.
If you don't play D&D yourself
This is the question I get most often. You don't need to understand the game. You only need to know two things: does the person carry their dice to games, and do they have a lot of dice. If they carry dice around and have many sets, get a bag with pockets. If they play at home and have only a few dice, get a tray. If you can quietly ask someone at their table what character they play, you can also pick a print or a custom design that matches it. The longer version is in dice bag or dice tray as a gift?
In our Etsy reviews, about one in ten mentions a gift. Of the 227 reviews that mention a gift, 61 name a friend, 40 a partner, 19 a sister, brother or parent, and 14 a child or teen. The most typical order is a girlfriend buying for a boyfriend who plays.
D&D gifts by recipient
For a partner who plays
Give something that could only belong to them. A custom printed dice bag (from $39) or a custom printed dice tray ($32) with their character portrait, the party crest or a map from their campaign cannot exist twice. An embroidered velvet bag with their character's name is another option. Commissioned character art and a painted miniature of their character are good choices from other makers too. Personalized pieces are made to order, so start early. More ideas in gifts for your D&D partner, DnD gifts for your boyfriend and D&D gifts for her.
For a friend
Friends are the most common gift recipients in our reviews. Pick by what they love, not by what they play: buyers write things like "my opossum loving friend" or "a friend who loves mothman and dnd". A bag with that creature on it, a plush goblin for the self-declared dice goblin, or a tray in their favorite print. If they already own a bag, a tray is the easy second gift.
For the Dungeon Master
A DM carries dice for monsters, NPCs and often their own character, so capacity and sorting matter. A 6-pocket bag holds about 300 dice, 6โ7 full sets in each pocket, which keeps monster dice apart from player dice. A dice tray, a DM screen, a book of random encounters or adventure ideas, and good initiative or condition trackers are all things DMs actually use. For a thank-you at the end of a campaign, a custom print of their world or their villain is the gift they will keep. See dice bags for Dungeon Masters.
For the DM or player who has everything
See also gifts for the Dungeon Master who has everything. If they already own dice, books and a screen, give them something that doesn't exist anywhere else: custom art on a bag or tray, a painted miniature of their character, or a bag in an unusual shape (goblin, mothman, mimic) that gets taken out to show friends, not only to carry dice.
For a new player
A first real dice set and a simple bag to keep it in. A bag without pockets ($32) is enough for one to five sets. If their group plays in person, a starter set or the main player's rulebook is a good addition. Skip expensive accessories until you know how they like to play. More in D&D gifts for new players and teens.
For a kid or teen
Colorful dice, a cute or creature-shaped plush dice bag (from $32) and a tray are all easy wins. In our reviews, parents buy these for a daughter or son who plays, often for a birthday or Christmas.
For the whole group or a secret santa
Give everyone the same kind of gift in a different design, so nobody feels left out: a folding dice tray each ($21.70), or a small dice set each. For a bigger group gift, one design per character works well: a dragon print for the sorcerer, mushrooms for the druid, a mimic for the DM. More small ideas: DnD secret santa gifts under $25 and DnD stocking stuffers for adults.
For a collector (dice goblin)
If they have more dice than they can use, they need storage, not more dice. A bag with 6 pockets plus the center space gives 7 sections. Bags with 8โ10 tiny pockets look good in photos, but each pocket fits only one set and the seams get bulky; see why most dice bags stop at seven sections.
D&D gifts by budget
- Under $25: a folding fabric dice tray ($21.70), a resin dice set, spell cards or condition trackers, a character journal.
- $25โ$50: a dice bag with pockets ($32โ$47), a custom printed tray ($32) or bag (from $39), a metal dice set, a DM screen, a starter set, a core rulebook.
- $50 and up: a matching custom bag and tray set, a wooden dice vault or tray, a painted custom miniature, commissioned character art.
What gift buyers say

FAQ
What is a good gift for a Dungeon Master?
Something that helps them run the game: a bag with pockets to keep monster and NPC dice apart, a dice tray, a DM screen or a book of encounters. For a thank-you at the end of a campaign, custom art of their world printed on a bag or tray is the most personal option.
How much should I spend on a D&D gift?
$20โ$50 covers most good gifts: a dice tray, a dice bag with pockets, a nice dice set or a rulebook. Above $50, go for custom or handmade pieces that can't be bought anywhere else.
What if I don't know anything about their character?
Pick something every player uses: a dice bag in a neutral design or a dice tray. Both need no inside knowledge.
What is a good D&D secret santa gift under $25?
A folding dice tray ($21.70), a small dice set, spell cards or a journal.
Is a dice bag a good gift?
Yes, if it fits their collection. Check the capacity in dice, not "large", and make sure pockets fit several sets. A bag that holds a whole collection gets used every session.
When should I order a D&D gift for Christmas 2026?
Custom printed pieces by November 25; made-to-order and embroidered pieces by December 1โ5, depending on your country. Ready-to-ship bestsellers from our US warehouse by December 17, US buyers only.
Can you add a gift note?
Yes. Write the text in the order comment, and it goes in the package.
